For the needs of our client, we are seeking an experienced and technically strong
**SAM Technical Analyst**
to join a dynamic IT environment.

This is not a purely operational SAM role. We are looking for a technical IT generalist with strong data engineering capabilities, deep SAM tool expertise, and sufficient licensing awareness to ensure that technical facts translate into accurate and defensible license positions.

If you understand infrastructure at a systems level, can trace data from raw discovery through normalization to license consumption, and are comfortable challenging both vendors and internal stakeholders with facts — this role is for you.

Role Overview:

The SAM Technical Analyst bridges infrastructure, data, tooling, and licensing logic. You will be responsible for ensuring that discovery data is technically accurate, normalized correctly, and defensible in audit scenarios.

You will work closely with Infrastructure, Security, Procurement, Legal, and external vendors to maintain a reliable and technically sound SAM environment.

**Operating Systems and Infrastructure:**

You should be comfortable (not necessarily expert) working with:

**Windows Server & Desktop**

- Services, scheduled tasks, registry basics
- File systems and permissions

**Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE)**

- Package managers (rpm, yum, apt)
- Services, cron, systemctl

**Virtualization**

- VMware (vCenter, clusters, hosts, vCPU vs core concepts)
- Basic knowledge of Hyper-V

**Cloud Fundamentals**

- Azure & AWS resource models
- VM vs PaaS vs SaaS distinctions
- Tagging strategies and subscription/account structures

**Discovery and Inventory Management:**

- Deep understanding of agent-based vs agentless discovery
- Awareness of network scanning limitations (firewalls, credentials, segmentation)
- Understanding of enterprise security constraints

You will:

- Design scanning strategies (scope, frequency, targeting)
- Troubleshoot incomplete or inconsistent inventory
- Optimize coverage while respecting security policies

Agent Management:

- Deploy and maintain agents (MSI/package deployment, silent installs, upgrades, removals)
- Manage service accounts under least-privilege principles
- Monitor performance impact
- Resolve version drift, orphaned or duplicate devices

**Tool Configuration and License Logic**

- Manage software recognition rules and normalization logic
- Configure license models (metrics, bundling, downgrade rights)
- Maintain publisher/product mappings
- Create and manage custom applications and signatures

You must understand and clearly explain:

Raw data → Normalized data → License position

You should be able to trace any consumption figure back to its technical source and explain why a license is being consumed.

**Data Quality and SQL (Must-Have)**

- Strong SQL knowledge (SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY, subqueries)
- Build custom reports and validation queries
- Cross-check SAM tool outputs
- Validate or challenge vendor audit claims

You will:

- Identify duplicate devices/users
- Clean inconsistent naming conventions
- Apply data cleansing rules
- Implement confidence scoring across data sources

**Technical Integrations:**

Experience integrating with:

- SCCM / Intune
- vCenter, Azure, AWS APIs
- HR systems (user-based licensing)
- Procurement systems (POs, entitlements)

Solid understanding of:

- REST APIs, authentication, throttling
- Scheduled vs event-driven imports
- Troubleshooting data mismatches and reconciliation timing issues
- Validating field mappings and data flows

**Licensing Awareness:**

This is where technical capability must meet licensing logic.

You must understand how to translate:

- Technical consumption → licensing metrics

Including the impact of:

- Virtualization (cores vs vCPUs)
- User/device assignment models
- SaaS activity-based metrics

Familiarity with vendor-specific discovery challenges, including Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, IBM, and Broadcom, is highly valued.

**Scripting and Automation:**

Basic to intermediate skills in:

- PowerShell
- Python

Used for:

- Pre-processing scan data
- Validating anomalies
- Performing bulk configuration changes

Security Awareness:

While not a security role, you must understand:

- Credential handling and secrets management
- Read-only vs privileged access models
- Impact of scanning in regulated environments
- GDPR implications (user data and activity tracking)

**A strong SAM Technical Analyst can:**

- Translate complex technical findings into business language
- Confidently push back on vendors, tool limitations, and unrealistic audit claims
- Work effectively across Infrastructure, Security, Procurement, and Legal teams
- Maintain a defensible, audit-ready position based on technical facts

Ideal Profile:

-Strong technical IT background (infrastructure + data)

-Hands-on SAM tool configuration experience

-Advanced SQL capability

-Analytical mindset with attention to data accuracy

-Confident communicator with cross-functional influence

**What We Offer:**

- Fast-paced, innovative atmosphere
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits
- Training, mentorship, and growth opportunities
- Flexible work arrangements (where possible)
- The chance to make a difference from day one

**Location:**
Skopje

**Hours:**
Monday to Friday, 8 am–5 pm (hybrid work)

If you are passionate about data accuracy, infrastructure logic, and defensible licensing positions — and want to operate at the intersection of technology and compliance — we would love to hear from you.
