**The Role**

As an L1 SOC Analyst, you will be responsible for monitoring security alerts, performing initial triage, escalating incidents appropriately, and supporting the SOC team in maintaining a secure network environment. This is an entry-level position focused on learning and applying foundational cybersecurity operations skills.

This will be a shift based role providing 24/7 monitoring, including working weekends.

**Role Responsibilities**

- Monitor security alerts from various systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint detection tools) and escalate incidents as required
- Perform initial triage of alerts, including basic investigation and documentation of findings
- Identify potential false positives and ensure accurate alert categorization
- Assist in gathering information about suspicious activity or potential threats
- Maintain accurate and complete incident and alert documentation
- Support L2 and L3 analysts with investigations and remediation tasks
- Participate in shift rotations, on-call support, and SOC handovers
- Follow established processes and procedures to ensure consistent handling of security events
- Participate in security awareness initiatives and basic SOC process improvement activities

**Skills, Knowledge & Experience**

- Basic understanding of network and security concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, malware, phishing)
- Familiarity with operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, or Unix
- Exposure to security monitoring tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus, vulnerability scanners)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately
- Good written and verbal communication skills for documenting incidents and escalating appropriately
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow guidance from senior analysts
- Eagerness to learn about security threats, incident response, and SOC operations
- Associate’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or equivalent experience) preferred
