**Mid-Level Legal Counsel**
Bitola, North Macedonia (Hybrid/Office)
**About the Role**
PaymentIQ is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Counsel to join our growing team in Bitola. As a standalone payment orchestration platform, we navigate a complex global landscape of financial regulations and SaaS commerce. You will play a key role in ensuring our operations, contracts, and expansion efforts are legally sound and compliant with both North Macedonian and EU standards. You will working closely with our Legal Director in Sweden.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Contract Lifecycle:**
Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS agreements, service provider contracts, and partnership agreements with global payment service providers (PSPs).
- **Regulatory Compliance:**
Monitor and advise on changes in the Law on Payment Operations in North Macedonia and relevant EU directives (e.g., PSD2/PSD3, GDPR).
- **Corporate Governance:**
Manage local corporate filings, Board of Director resolutions, and ensure compliance with the Law on Financial Discipline.
- **Product Advisory:**
Provide legal guidance to the product and engineering teams in Bitola regarding payment flows, data privacy, and anti-money laundering (AML) requirements.
- **Risk Management:**
Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with international expansion and new payment method integrations.
**Requirements**
- **Experience:**
3–6 years of post-qualification legal experience, ideally within a fintech, law firm, or a high-growth technology company.
- **Education:**
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law; passed Bar Exam (Pravosuden ispit) is a significant advantage.
- **Expertise:**
Strong understanding of commercial law, intellectual property, and data protection (GDPR). Familiarity with payment infrastructure is a major plus.
- **Languages:**
Full professional fluency in English (working language for Stockholm/International stakeholders).
- **Soft Skills:**
Ability to thrive in a startup environment, balancing legal rigor with the speed of a standalone tech company.
