**Senior AI Engineer – RAG, Evaluation & Production AI**
**We are looking for a medior-to-senior AI Engineer / Individual Contributor**
who has already taken a RAG-based or tool-using chatbot from prototype to real users.
This is not a research role and not a notebook-only position. We are looking for someone who knows how to make AI systems
**reliable, measurable and production-ready**
.
**What you will do**
- Own answer quality for AI assistants: grounding, citations, hallucination reduction and graceful “I don’t know” behaviour when sources are missing
- Build and improve RAG and tool-using chatbot workflows for real users
- Make image generation and branded
**PPTX, DOCX and PDF output**
ready for production use
- Set up quality measurement using
**golden sets, evaluations, traces and automated testing**
- **Improve systems based on measurable quality instead of endless prompt tweaking**
- **Work directly in an existing Python / FastAPI**
production environment
- Evaluate and improve Dutch-language answers for Flemish SMEs
- Help build AI solutions that can later be transferred or integrated with external partners
**What we are looking for**
- Medior-to-senior engineering experience in applied AI / GenAI
- Proven experience shipping a
**RAG or tool-using chatbot**
to real users
- Strong Python skills and experience with production APIs, ideally FastAPI
- Experience with retrieval, grounding, citations, evaluation frameworks and observability
- Ability to design and maintain golden datasets and AI quality metrics
- Strong understanding of LLM failure modes, especially hallucinations and unsupported answers
- Comfortable working hands-on as an
**individual contributor**
**Strong plus**
- Experience with
**MCP servers and MCP gateways**
- **Experience in enterprise or organizational AI environments**
- **Experience designing systems that can later be handed over to implementation partners**
- **Dutch language skills or experience evaluating Dutch-language AI output**
**What this role is not**
**You will not**
be expected to:
- Train or fine-tune foundation model weights
- Build SharePoint, ERP or Exact connectors from scratch
- Replace the existing vector database
- Manage a large team
- Work as a junior AI developer
