**911Systems is looking for a Senior QA Engineer**
to join our engineering team in North Macedonia.
As a Senior QA Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the
**quality, reliability, and usability of mission-critical software supporting emergency communications and 911 operations.**
This is a hands-on QA role combining
**manual and automated testing. Y**
ou will be involved throughout the entire software development lifecycle — from requirements and test planning through manual validation, automation, defect investigation, and release verification.
We are looking for an experienced QA professional who enjoys both
**breaking software and building the automation that helps prevent those issues from coming back.**
**What You'll Do**
- Design and execute comprehensive test strategies for complex software applications and services.
- Perform
**manual functional, regression, exploratory, integration, system, and end-to-end testing.**
- Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for critical application functionality.
- Build and maintain reliable, reusable, and maintainable test automation.
- Automate repetitive and high-value regression scenarios while determining when manual testing provides greater value.
- Develop automated tests for web applications, APIs, backend services, and system integrations.
- Integrate automated tests into
**CI/CD pipelines.**
- Analyze automated test failures and determine whether failures are caused by application defects, test issues, or environmental problems.
- Perform exploratory testing to uncover unexpected behaviors and edge cases that automated tests may not identify.
- Create and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and automation documentation.
- Participate in requirements and technical design reviews and identify potential quality risks early.
- Work closely with Software Engineers to reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve defects.
- Investigate production issues and help identify root causes.
- Validate fixes and ensure defects do not regress.
- Perform API testing and validate communication between services and external systems.
- Test complex workflows across multiple applications, services, and integrations.
- Review test coverage and identify gaps in both manual and automated testing.
- Improve QA processes, testing methodologies, and automation practices.
- Contribute to release validation and deployment activities.
- Mentor other QA engineers and help establish strong QA practices across the engineering organization.
**Manual & Exploratory Testing**
Manual testing is an important part of this role.
You will be expected to understand the product from a
**user and business perspective,**
not just execute predefined test cases.
This includes:
- Exploratory testing.
- Edge-case and negative testing.
- User workflow validation.
- Usability and functional testing.
- Regression testing.
- Cross-browser and environment validation.
- Investigating unexpected application behavior.
- Testing new functionality before automation is appropriate.
- Identifying scenarios that are difficult or inappropriate to automate.

**Test Automation**
Automation is also a significant part of the position.
You will help expand and maintain our automated testing capabilities by:
- Developing automated functional and regression tests.
- Creating automated end-to-end workflows.

- Maintaining automation frameworks and reusable testing utilities.
- Integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Improving test execution speed and reliability.
- Identifying and reducing flaky tests.
- Selecting the right scenarios for automation.
- Using automation to provide fast and reliable feedback to developers.

. The goal is to use automation where it provides meaningful value while maintaining strong manual and exploratory testing where human judgment is essential.
**What We're Looking For**
- **5+ years of professional experience in QA, Software Testing, or Quality Engineering.**
- **Strong experience with both manual and automated testing.**
- Experience testing web applications and backend services.
- Experience designing and maintaining automated test suites or frameworks.
- Strong programming or scripting experience in
**Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, C#, or a similar language.**
- Experience with modern test automation frameworks such as
**Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, or similar.**
- Strong understanding of
**API testing**
and REST services.
- Experience with tools such as Postman or similar API-testing tools.
- Experience working with
**CI/CD pipelines.**
- Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies and the Software Development Lifecycle.
- Experience with functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience writing clear and effective test cases and test documentation.
- Experience working with SQL and databases.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of QA activities.
