Our client builds tax compliance and regulatory reporting software. Companies in more than 70 countries use its platform for e-invoicing, VAT/GST reporting, and tax calculation. The engineering team runs cloud services that process large volumes of financial transactions.
You’ll build and maintain backend services and data pipelines for the compliance platform, and work with product teams to implement new tax regulations as countries introduce them. Scala is the main language. Java Engineers who have worked with Scala are also welcome to apply.
**Responsibilities:**
- Develop backend services and APIs in Scala, and in Python/Java where needed.
- Build distributed systems that process financial and tax data at high volume.
- Write tested code and review your teammates’ code.
- Integrate with internal systems, third-party services, and tax authority APIs.
- Fix production issues and improve performance and monitoring.
- Work in an Agile team with product owners, QA, and DevOps.
**Requirements:**
- 5+ years of backend development.
- Commercial Scala experience, or a strong Java background with hands-on Scala.
- Some experience with Python.
- Understanding of functional programming.
- Experience with MCP.
- Experience with serverless, microservices and with enterprise solutions.

- Coding with AI agents.
