# Manager, Operations (Transit Operations)

MTM Transit is proactively building a pipeline of experienced operations leaders for future business opportunities across our growing transit and paratransit operations. While contract awards have not yet been finalized, we are seeking qualified professionals interested in joining our talent community and being considered for upcoming opportunities nationwide.
This Evergreen Requisition is designed to identify and engage talented operations leaders for future **Manager, Operations** openings as new contracts are awarded and services expand. Qualified candidates may be considered for opportunities supporting small, medium, and large-scale transportation operations.
## Position Summary
The **Manager, Operations** plays a key leadership role in managing, developing, and supporting transportation operations staff while implementing strategic initiatives that drive operational performance. This position oversees daily service delivery, including drivers, dispatch personnel, and operational support staff, ensuring transportation services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements.
The **Manager, Operations** serves as a liaison between the client and operational team while maintaining a strong focus on safety, service quality, compliance, employee development, and customer satisfaction.
## Essential Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of drivers, dispatchers, and other operations personnel.
- Manage daily transit operations to ensure safe, efficient, and effective service delivery.
- Monitor staffing levels, attendance, scheduling, expenditures, and employee performance.
- Administer coaching, corrective action, performance management, and employee development initiatives.
- Conduct monthly safety meetings and reinforce company safety standards.
- Coordinate employee training, retraining, and policy updates to ensure regulatory and operational compliance.
- Perform driver evaluations in accordance with contract requirements and ADA, DOT, and FTA standards.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and collaboration.
- Support clients with operational updates, reporting, process improvements, and system enhancements.
- Analyze operational performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and applicable regulations.
- Participate in startup activities, service expansions, and business growth initiatives as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
## Qualifications
### Required
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of transit management experience.
- Experience supervising employees in a transportation or service delivery environment.
- Experience managing operational performance, staffing, and service delivery.
- Experience conducting employee training and development activities.
- Valid driver's license.
### Preferred
- Previous management experience in paratransit, transit, or livery operations.
- Experience working with senior populations and individuals with disabilities.
- Experience supervising hourly employees in a passenger transportation environment.
- Experience delivering classroom and behind-the-wheel training.
- Knowledge of ADA, DOT, and FTA regulations.
- Experience with data analytics, reporting, and operational performance management.
## Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and employee development capabilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to administer coaching, discipline, and performance management effectively.
- Knowledge of safety and training procedures.
- Strong client relationship management skills.
- Ability to interpret operational data and performance metrics.
- Familiarity with dispatch operations, map reading, and transportation systems.
- Knowledge of two-way radio communications and demand-response transportation operations preferred.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
## Travel
- Local and overnight travel may be required.
- Candidates may be required to operate a company or rental vehicle in accordance with company policy and motor vehicle standards.
